Four Wildcats Named Volleyball Captains

DURHAM, N.H. – Seniors Camryn Honn (Overland Park, Kan.), Kelly Kaufmann (Raleigh, N.C.) and Hannah Serbousek (Fort Collins, Colo.), as well as junior Shea Purcell (Shaker Heights, Ohio), have been named captains for the University of New Hampshire volleyball team in the 2023 season. The announcement was made Wednesday by UNH fifth-year head coach Christopher Feliciano.
Honn is a setter who played in 58 sets a year ago. She ranked third on the team in both assists (213) and assists per set (3.67). The Wildcats recorded a .348 hitting percentage with Honn as the setter, and that was the highest mark among UNH's three primary setters. She also recorded 25 service aces to rank second in that stat as well as first in aces per set (0.43). Honn tied for the America East lead in aces per set.

Kaufmann, a middle blocker, ranked second on the squad in blocks (82) and blocks per set (0.99) with eight solo blocks and 74 block assists in 83 sets. She was also third in points per set (2.36) and fourth in points (196). Kaufmann's .342 hitting percentage was best among the five Wildcats who recorded 100+ kills and ranked second in America East. She was also eighth in the conference in blocks per set.

Purcell is an outside hitter who saw action in 15 sets last season and whose stats included 12 kills. In 2021 as a freshman, Purcell tallied 93 kills and 108 digs in 63 sets.

Serbousek garnered America East All-Conference Second Team recognition last year, when she led UNH in kills (224), kills per set (2.62) and points per set (3.05). The outside hitter also ranked second in both digs (213) and digs per set (2.48), as well as tied for third in service aces (23) and tied for second in aces per set (0.27). Among the six Wildcats who had 100+ service receptions, Serbousek's .947 reception percentage ranked second.
On the America East leaderboard, Serbousek ranked seventh in both kills per set and points per set, as well as eighth in digs per set.

New Hampshire opens the 2023 season Aug. 25-26 at the Indiana Invitational. The Wildcats play both Southern Indiana (1 p.m.) and Indiana University (7 p.m.) on Friday, then conclude the tourney Saturday with a match against Radford University at 12 p.m. Go to the Match Day Central page for more information.
