Lindsay Lee and Tasmin Cookman Named Captains for 2023 Season

DURHAM, N.H. – Lindsay Lee (Eindhoven, Netherlands) and Tasmin Cookman (Woking, England) have been selected captains of the 2023 University of New Hampshire field hockey team.
Lee is a three-year starter and rising senior back who will be a leader of the Wildcats' defensive unit and integral part of both penalty corner units. Offensively, she recorded two goals and two assists for a total of six points in the 2022 season. At the other end of the field, Lee was credited with her first career defensive save in the America East semifinal.
Lee matched her personal bests of two assists and four points against Merrimack College. She scored the game-tying goal vs. UC Davis and went on to score the decisive goal in the overtime shootout victory.
Cookman made an immediate impact as a freshman last season, when she ranked No. 7 nationally in points per game (2.15), No. 9 in goals per game (0.80) and No. 23 in assists per game (0.55). On the America East leaderboard, she was No. 2 in points, points per game, goals and goals per game, as well as No. 5 in both assists and assists per game.
Cookman was UNH's leader in goals (16), game-winning goals (three), assists (11), points (43), shots (63) and shots on goal (36). Her 43 points tied for No. 6 on the program's all-time list of single-season superlatives and the most ever by a UNH freshman.
Cookman was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America Third Team, NFHCA Northeast Region First Team, ECAC Division I Rookie of the Year, Synapse Sports All-Rookie Team, America East Rookie of the Year, America East All-Conference First Team and America East All-Rookie Team.
UNH, led by NFHCA Hall of Fame and UNH Athletics Hall of Fame head coach Robin Balducci, begins the 2023 season Aug. 25 (2 p.m.) home vs. Quinnipiac University; the Wildcats then play host to Michigan State on Aug. 27 (1 p.m.).
