McGrath and Hoffman Qualify for NCAA East Preliminary (May 26)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Graduate Student Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) and junior Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team qualified to compete at the 2023 NCAA East Preliminary Round at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville from May 24-27.

Hoffman will compete in the discus throw on Friday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. while McGrath will take on the high jump directly following the discus at 2:30 p.m.

Hoffman had first-place finishes in the discus at New England Championships, the UConn Northeast Challenge, and the Colonial Relays this outdoor season. He also placed second at the America East Championships. Hoffman holds the school record in the discus at 56.47m.

Hoffman currently ranks first in the conference and fourth in the Northeast region in the discus. Hoffman also qualified and competed in the discus at the 2022 NCAA East Preliminary.

McGrath also claimed the New England Championship in the high jump while coming in second place at the America East Championships, the Virginia Challenge Meet, and the UConn Northeast Challenge. McGrath holds the school record in the outdoor high jump at 2.09m.

McGrath currently ranks first in the conference and second in the Northeast Region in the high jump. This is McGrath's first appearance at the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
