McGrath and Hoffman Have First Place Finishes at New England Outdoor Championships

DEDHAM, Mass. – Graduate student Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) won the high jump and junior Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) placed first in the discus as the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team competed in the New England Outdoor Championships at the Solomon Outdoor Track Friday and Saturday afternoon.
With the conclusion of events on Saturday afternoon, the team finished in sixth with a combined 42 points.
RESULTS
FIELD EVENTS
Hoffman had a throw of 181' 01" (55.21m) to finish first in the discus. With his first-place finish, he wins back-to-back New England Championships in discus.
McGrath placed first in the high jump with a height of 6'9.75" (2.08m).
Senior Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) placed eighth with a personal best hammer throw of 190'.05" (58.05m) and freshman Liam McGovern (North Kingstown, R.I.) placed tenth with a throw of 188'02" (57.35m).
TRACK EVENTS
Sophomore Aidan Shea (Amherst, Mass.) finished third in the 1500m run with a time of 3:48.43. Senior Aidan O'Hern (Concord, N.H.) finished right behind him in fourth place with a time of 3:50.74.
The team of Shea, senior William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.), senior Kenney McElroy (West Linn, Ore.) and sophomore Brayden Kearns (Deerfield, N.H.) came in second place in the 4x800m relay race.

The Wildcats return to action for the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. at the University of North Florida starting on Wednesday, May 24 and concluding on Saturday, May 27.
