10 UNH Skiers to Compete at NCAA Championships

NCAAs will take place in Lake Placid, N.Y., from March 8-11.
DURHAM, N.H. – Ten University of New Hampshire skiers will compete in the 2023 NCAA Ski Championships from March 8-11 in Lake Placid, N.Y. Alpine events will take place on Whiteface Mountain with the giant slalom (March 8) and slalom (March 10), while on the Nordic side the freestyle (March 9) and classic (March 11) will be on Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Â

Senior Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.), junior Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario), junior Lea Stabaek Wenaas (Oslo, Norway) and senior Scott Schulz (Lake Placid, N.Y.) will represent the Nordic team, while freshman Hedda Martelleur (Uppsala, Sweden), sophomore Zoe Michael (Sydney, Australia), graduate student Lisa Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden), freshman Isac Hedstrom (Are, Sweden), junior Peder Nersnaes (Oslo, Norway) and senior Marius Solbakken (Bekkestua, Norway) will be in Lake Placid for the Alpine team.

Last year, the Wildcats placed sixth at the NCAA Championships marking the best national finish in the 40-year career of UNH Ski Coordinator/Nordic head coach Cory Schwartz. UNH returns two 2022 All-Americans as Lyons was on the first team in the 15K freestyle and on the second team in the 5K classic, while Michael was a second team member in the slalom. Olsson was a second team All-American in the giant slalom in 2019.
