Wildcats Fall in Exciting Game Against NJIT, 70-67

DURHAM, NH – Junior guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished with a career high 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals as the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to NJIT, 70-67 at Lundolm Gym on Wednesday evening.
Senior center Brooke Kane (Derry, N.H.) finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists giving her a third double-double and second in back-to-back games.
The Wildcats' record sits at 6-15 (1-8 AE), and NJIT improves to 10-11 (5-4 AE).

FIRST QUARTER:
· Freshman guard Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio) made a great dish to Groman, for a mid-range pull up. On the next play, Groman drained a three for her fifth point.
· After an impressive first quarter, the Wildcats lead 18-16 over NJIT. Kane and Groman lead the way with 5 points each.
SECOND QUARTER:
· Freshman guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) made an impressive step back three for her 5th point of the game and the first bucket of the quarter for the 'Cats.
· Kane drained another three for the 'Cats assisted by Breezie Williams for her 3rd of the game.
· Williams with a great through the legs step back for another mid-range pull up and her second basket of the game.
THIRD QUARTER:
· Groman opened the scoring for the 'Cats with another corner three and her third of the game.
· Junior center Paige Cote (Sanford, Maine) with her first bucket of the game helping the Wildcats stay down by 2. On the next possession, Cote with a great turn around fader for another huge bucket for the 'Cats. NJIT leads 40-38 over UNH.
· Groman sank another three, making her 4-4 from behind the three-point line.
· Kane kept up the same energy by knocking down another clutch three for the Wildcats.
· Cote with a huge reverse layup right before the end of the third quarter to tie the game at 53.
FOURTH QUARTER:
· Williams added to her points making a nice floater from the short corner.
· After a couple makes from the line, Groman had 21 points keeping the 'Cats in this game with the score tied at 59 with 4:58 remaining.
· Freshman forward Diana Eliasson (Stockholm, Sweden) had a pair of free throws to put the Wildcats up 3.
· Cote had a huge block at the rim giving UNH more momentum as the game winds down. Next possession on offense, Kane with a huge shot inside the three-point line at the top of the key giving UNH a 2 point lead.
