Wildcats Name Nordic Ski Captains

Six student-athletes to lead the 'Cats
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire ski program has named the Nordic captains for the 2024 season. Graduate student Luci Anderson (Golden Valley, Minn.), senior Alice House (Madison, Wis.), senior Jasmine Lyons (Ottawa, Ontario), graduate student Everett Olson (Snowmass Village, Colo.), senior James Schneider (Plymouth, Minn.) and senior Seth Wyatt (Bozeman, Mont.) will serve as captains.

"We are excited about the team's commitment to training and to being a strong cohesive unit," said Ski Coordinator and Nordic Head Coach Cory Schwartz. "The captains will guide by leading by example, caring for teammates and helping set the standard so we can meet our team and individual goals."

Anderson, who was also a team captain last season, has appeared in four NCAA Championships. Last year she won the EISA Nordic freestyle points championship and was a member of the All-East First Team. She has been named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team four times, is a two-year member of the National College Athlete Honor Society and earned 2023 Academic All-District accolades.

House has competed 33 times during her career with 11 top-20 finishes. As a freshman she placed 11th in the 10K classic at the Vermont Nordic Carnival, while as a sophomore she finished 15th in the 15K freestyle at the Middlebury Carnival. House is a three-time member of the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team and was a 2023 inductee into the National College Athlete Honor Society. Â Â Â

Lyons is a four-time All-American and has competed in three NCAA Championships. She earned First Team All-America accolades with a second-place finish in the 5K freestyle in 2023 and a third-place finish in the 15K freestyle in 2022, while she received Second Team All-America honors with a sixth-place finish in the 20K classic in 2023 and an eighth-place finish in the 5K classic in 2022. Lyons has been named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team three times, the Academic All-District Team twice and was a 2023 inductee into the National College Athlete Honor Society. Olson has competed 25 times during his UNH career and has posted three top-10 finishes. He was ranked 19th overall in the East and 10th in the freestyle in 2021, while he posted a season-best finish of fifth in the 10K classic at the 2021 Vermont Nordic Carnival and also recorded two 10th place finishes during the season.

Schneider has competed 30 times during his career including at the 2021 NCAA Championships. Also in 2021 he ranked fourth overall in the East and second in the freestyle as he earned First Team All-East accolades. He is a three-time member of the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team and was a 2023 inductee into the National College Athlete Honor Society. Â Â Â

Wyatt has competed in two NCAA Championships during his career. As a freshman he won the 10K skate in his collegiate debut at the EISA Nordic Carnival at Jackson XC and was a member of the All-East Second Team as he was ninth overall in the East. He has been named to the National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team three times and was a 2023 inductee into the National College Athlete Honor Society. Â Â Â

The Wildcats start the 2023 season at the Vermont Carnival on Jan. 11-13 with Alpine events scheduled for Stowe Mountain (Jan. 11-12) and Nordic competing at Craftsbury (Jan. 12-13).
