Wildcats add seven student-athletes to 2022-23 roster

DURHAM, N.H. -- Head Coach Josh Willman of the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving program has announced seven student-athletes that will join the Wildcats for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
The Wildcats announced on Friday the addition of Trinity Devanney (Gulf Breeze, Fla.), Sarah Guerrette (Bow, N.H.), Ella Guilfoil (Fairport, N.Y.), Audrey Mahoney (Downers Grove, Ill.), Caitlin Mason (Charleston, S.C.), Carolyn Nelson (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) and Sophia Routzahn (Frederick, Md.).
"We are very excited about our incoming freshmen class," said Willman. "Mike Jolly has done a fantastic job identifying talented swimmers that we both feel are all great fits for our program and look forward to seeing their progress through the summer and bringing them on board this fall as we gear up for another championship run."
Devanney swam at Gulf Breeze High School and for head coach Kyle Cormier, CMSA (City of Mobile Swim Association). In her senior season at Gulf Breeze, she served as team captain and was a member of the District I runner-up team, as well as part of four straight Santa Rosa County Champion teams. Devanney was the District I and county champion in 500 Free. She was a 3a state qualifier in 500 free and two relays. She finished ninth in 500 free, 12th and 14th in 200 medley relay and 200 free relay, respectively. This past year with CSMA, she was a Southeastern (SES) qualifier in six events, and was a two-time finalist. She placed eighth in the 400 IM and 15th place 200 IM. Devanney was a ESSZ sectional qualifier in four events and two relays, and was part of the CMSA team that placed eighth overall.

Guerette was team captain at Bow High School in her senior season. She was named Concord Monitor's Female Swimmer of the Year, as well as Female Swimmer of the Season. Guerette was also named a NISCA Academic All-American and Qualified for New England Seniors and Speedo Eastern Zone Sectionals. She also broke seven school records in her first three seasons at Bow, including three in each of her sophomore and junior seasons. She was also on the rowing team her first two years at Bow High School and also was on the track & field team her final two seasons, competing in the pole vault.

Guilfoil swam at Fairport High School and was First-Team All-County team, All-Greater Rochester Team in her senior season. She placed fifth in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 back at NYSPHSAA Championship. She holds the Fairport school record in the 200 IM (2:05.73). She was a member of the Fast National Team from August 2018-November 2021. She also took part in the ISCA summer international meets and ISCA March national meets, placing in the top three for various relays and made finals in individual events. She also attended the Speedo Sectional Meet 2021 and placed in top 10 for individual events. She was for Deborah Burke, Ryan Callan, Mike Kennedy (Fairport Area Swim Team), as well as Mike Murray, Scott Wisner, Dan Burke (Victor Swim Club). She has been with Victor Swim Club National Team since March 2022. (LC Speedo Sectionals 2022 and placed in top ten for relays and individual events).

Mahoney swam at Downers Grove South High School and swam club with Hornets Swim Club under coaches Eric Thuneman and Coach Andy Sheely. At the IHSA State Championship this past season, she placed fourth in the 50 free, ninth in the 100 free. Mahoney ended high school career with seven school records. She was named All-Conference in all four seasons at Downers Grove South. She was a 4.0 honor roll student all four years in high school.

Mason competed at Wando High School and swam club at South Carolina Swim Club under Eric Lane. In her senior year, she placed second in the 100 back-stroke at high school state meet, qualified and competed at senior sectionals and was in AP Academy. Her Wando High School team won the state meet in all four years she was a member of the team.

Nelson swam at Glenbard West High School and swam club for Northwest Dupage BRRY YMCA for coach Jon Addison. During her senior year, she was a futures qualifier and in her sophomore year, she was a scorer at WSC Conference meet in the 200 free and 100 fly with a fourth place finish. In her freshman year, the Hilltoppers placed second at WSC Conference and Sectionals as a team.

Routzahn swam at Tuscarora High School and was a futures qualifier in all four seasons with the team. Routzahn was named a 2019 Scholastic All-American in her freshman year at Tuscarora. She swam club for Frederick Area Swim Team (FAST) for coach Cheryl Linscott.

The UNH swimming and diving program won its 10th America East Championship in program history in 2022, which are the most in conference record in the sport of swimming and diving (1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022).
