Plaza's Third-Place Finish Highlights Friday's Friar Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Zack Plaza (Derry, N.H.) highlighted the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team's results with a third-place finish in the 800-meter dash at Friday evening's Friar Invitational, which was held at Providence College's Ray Treacy Track.
Plaza led a trio of Wildcats in a field of 41 entrants in the 800m with a third-place time of 1 minute, 53.49 seconds. In Heat 2, he was in third place at the 400m split (55.33 seconds) and ran the second-fastest split of 58.17 in the final 400m to cross the finish line second in his heat.
Juniors Dillon Adamy (Clinton, N.J.) and William Curran (Old Saybrook, Conn.) both ran in Heat 4 of the 800m. Adamy placed 14th overall with a time of 1:54.83 and Curran finished 24th with a clocking of 1:56.21.
Junior Kenney McElroy (West Linn, Ore.) crossed the finish line third of six runners in the 400m with a time of 50.66 seconds.
The UNH men's track & field team returns to action at its second (and last) home meet of the outdoor season April 9 at Wildcat Invitational 2.
