Yeomans leads the 'Cats with a 2nd place finish in the 1500 at UConn on Saturday

STORRS, Conn. – The University of New Hampshire women's track and field team finished up competition on the final day of action at the UConn Northeast Challenge on Saturday afternoon at George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
Junior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) earned a second-place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:26.16, while freshman Jill Walker (Simi Valley, Calif.) earned an eighth-place finish with a mark of 4:31.66.
Savannah Vartabedian (Wilbraham, Mass.) led the way for the Wildcats with a seventh-place effort in the long jump with a mark of 18'6.5, while freshman Olivia Chamberlain (Warnerville, N.Y.) registered a jump of 17'8, which was good for 14th place at the meet.
UNH's group of Vartabedian, Mia Taranko (Saco, Maine), Meline Almasian (Westford, Mass.) and Natalie Fraser (Gilford, N.H.) placed seventh in the 4x100 relay with a time of 49.02.
The 'Cats 4x400 relay team comprised of Fraser, Zakiya Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Cailey Archer (Berthoud, Colo.) and Kelly Hamlin (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) also placed seventh (4:00.44).
Up next on the schedule for the 'Cats is the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell on Saturday, April 23 at Cushing Field Complex.
