LOWELL, Mass. – Carl Berglund scored the lone goal of the game as the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team fell to No. 16 UMass Lowell, 1-0, on Saturday at the Tsongas Center in the regular season finale.

The Wildcats fall to 14-18-1 (8-15-1 Hockey East), while the River Hawks improve to 20-9-3 (15-8-1 Hockey East).

UP NEXT:

The Wildcats will be the No. 9 seed in the Hockey East Tournament and will play at No. 8 seed Boston College on Wednesday, March 9, at Conte Forum in the Opening Round. This season, the Wildcats went 2-0-0 versus the Eagles with a 3-2 win on Jan. 14 at the Whittemore Center and a 5-2 win at Conte Forum on Jan. 15.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

At 1:21 of the second period, UML took a 1-0 lead when Carl Berglund fired a shot from the slot to the back of the net.
The Wildcats went with an empty net with less than 2:00 remaining in the third period, but were unable to score the equalizer for the 1-0 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Junior goalie David Fessenden (Parker, Colo.) made 26 saves, while Owen Savory posted 27 saves.
UMass Lowell outshot UNH by a 33-30 margin.
The Wildcats went 0-4 on the power play and the River Hawks finished 1-3.
