ROXBURY, Mass. – Senior Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) and freshman Olivia Chamberlain (Warnerville, N.Y.) each won gold as the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team competed at the New England Championships on Friday.
Chamberlain set the school record in the long jump and Williams won the weight throw.
Chamberlain won the championship in the long jump with school record of 18'7.00". The previous record was set in 2005 by Kiah Quarles at 18' 6 3/4".
Sophomore Mia Taranko (Saco, Maine) secured the bronze in the long jump at a career-best distance of 18'3.25", while senior Saige Tudisco (Haverhill, Mass.) placed ninth at 17'4.00".
Williams placed first with a throw of 57'5.50 meters to win the title.
Junior Danielle Heine (Waverly, Pa.) recorded a fourth-place finish in the pole vault at 11'5.75". Graduate student Jordan Hoffman (North Chelmsford, Mass.) was 10th at 10'11.75".
The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 5 when they conclude the New England Championships.
