Sarah Williams Sets School Record as Wildcats Compete at Terrier Classic

Williams broke the weight throw record that was set in 2010.
RESULTS
BOSTON – Senior Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) set a new school record in the weight throw as the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday at the Track & Tennis Center at Boston University versus strong competition.
Williams broke the record with a throw of 59'1.50" as she placed fourth out of 31 athletes. The previous record was set by Ashlee Lathrop in 2010 at 58'8". This is Williams' second school record at UNH as she also set the school record in the outdoor shot put in 2021.
Williams also recorded a 14th place finish today out of 28 in the shot put with a throw of 40'5".
Sophomore Mia Taranko (Saco, Maine) placed 10th overall in the long jump out of 27 athletes with a career-best distance of 17'0.75". Senior Saige Tudisco (Haverhill, Mass.) posted a jump of 16'6.50" for 14th.
Junior Danielle Heine (Waverly, Pa.) was 12th out of 28 in the pole vault (11'3.75").
Junior Cailey Archer (Berthoud, Colo.) posted a time of 2:55.08 in the 1000 meters to place 14th out of 40 competitors. Sophomore Hannah Langstaff (Windham, Maine) was 18th with a time of 2:58.16, while sophomore Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) placed 24th with a time of 3:01.26. All were personal best times.
Senior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) recorded a career best time of 9:45.76 in the 3000 meters for an overall finish of 26th out of 105 athletes. Senior Lauren Dean (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.) was 30th with a personal best of 9:50.16 and senior Kira Nolan (Richmond, Vt.) was 54th with a personal best time of 10:10.41.
Graduate student Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, N.H.) recorded a time of 17:39.61 in the 5000 meters for 30th out of 57.
The Wildcats will return to action at the Maine Open Invitational in Orono, Maine on Sunday, Jan. 30 at New Balance Maine Field House at 1 p.m.
