Wittel Scores Goal in 3-1 Loss at Boston U.
9/3/2021 9:48:00 PM | Field Hockey
BOSTON – Junior Jaiden Wittel (Stroudsburg, Pa.) scored her first goal of the season as the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was defeated 3-1 by Boston University on Friday afternoon at New Balance Field.
UNH junior goalkeeper Jemma Woods (Frimley, England), the reigning America East Defensive Player of the Week, finished with one save.
BU starting goalie Caroline Kelly was credited with the win; she played the first half and was not credited with a save. Kate Thomason made one save and surrendered the Wildcats' goal.
BU's goal scorers were Payton Anderson, Rebecca Janes and Gianna Pantaleo.
"I'm pretty happy with our overall performance," UNH head coach Robin Balducci said. "They got a second goal but then we chipped away. Our players who played great for us, Bloem (van den Brekel) and Lindsay (Lee) were outstanding in our backfield. We had some chances and we just didn't finish. Great possession time. Played well. Moved the ball. Just falling short in getting corners and shots."
