Men’s Hockey Announces 2021-22 Captains

MacKinnon named captain; MacAdams, Pierson and Verrier to be assistant captains.
DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire men's hockey program has named senior defenseman Will MacKinnon (Plymouth, Mich.) captain, and senior forward Eric MacAdams (Salem, Mass.), senior forward Jackson Pierson (Zionsville, Ind.) and senior defenseman Ryan Verrier (Reading, Mass.) assistant captains for the 2021-22 season. MacKinnon is the 118th captain in program history.
"Will, Jackson, Eric and Ryan will represent the hockey program and the University very well both on and off the ice," said head coach Mike Souza.

MacKinnon has played 92 games as a Wildcat, posting four goals and 14 assists for 18 career points. Last season as a junior, he tallied five points on five assists. Two of MacKinnon's four career goals are game winners. He was named a Krampade All-American Scholar by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) for the 2020-21 season.

This is the second straight season that MacAdams will be an assistant captain. He has 19 goals and 23 assists for 42 career points over 110 games. Last season he posted five goals and five assists for 10 points. MacAdams has won the team's Robert A. Kullen Unsung Player Award twice (2019-20 and 2020-21).

Pierson has appeared in 81 games with 19 goals and 45 assists for 64 points. Last season, he earned second team Hockey East All-Star accolades as he recorded nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points. He ranked fifth in Hockey East with 1.09 points per game. Pierson led the team in assists and points, while he was tied for first in goals. He won the team's Roger A. LeClerc Most Valuable Player Award. Pierson was named a 2020-21 Krampade All-American Scholar.

Verrier has played in 92 career games with four goals and 12 assists for 16 points. Last season he posted a career-best 10 points on two goals and a career-best eight assists. Verrier was also recognized as a Krampade All-American Scholar for the 2020-21 season.
The Wildcats will start the 2021-22 season on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9, when they take on Union at the Whittemore Center at 7 p.m.
