UNH opens its season on Friday, September 10th at the Providence College Invitational
NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team is ranked No. 13 in the Northeast Region preseason rankings that were released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.
UNH returns 19 student-athletes from last season's team that placed third at the America East Championship in March and adds seven newcomers to the mix for the 2021 fall season.
"I am excited to be regionally ranked as a team," said UNH head coach Robert Hoppler. "We are looking forward to the season and continuing to build on the tradition of success of the women's cross country program here at UNH."
The Wildcats, who will host the America East Championship at the College Woods in Durham, have won six out of the last eight conference championships and seven overall (2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019). The seven titles are the most by any current America East team and are the second-most all-time.
UNH is one of four America East schools to be ranked in the Top 15 in the Northeast preseason regional rankings.
UNH opens their racing season on Friday, September 10th at the Providence College Invitational. Meet time is 3 p.m. in Attleboro, Mass.
