RESULTS
DURHAM, N.H. – Graduate student Alyssa Colbert (Smithfield, R.I.) broke her own school record in the discus with a distance of 157'1" as the University of New Hampshire women's track and field team won its season-opening meet with 306 points defeating Maine (138), Vermont (116), Southern Maine (54) and Southern New Hampshire (35).
Colbert shattered the record of 148' 4" that she set in 2019 by almost nine feet. She also won the hammer throw with a distance of 162'0" to be named the team's Performer of the Meet.
The Wildcats won eight individual events and both relays.
The Wildcats will return to action on Sunday, April 11 when they take on Bentley, Holy Cross, Maine and St. Anselm. The field events start at 11 a.m. and the running events start at 1 p.m.
DISCUS THROW
Colbert won the event with her school-record distance of 157'1". Junior Sarah Williams (Dover, N.H.) placed second with a career-best throw of 130'11".
JAVELIN
Senior Alexandra Toback (Pompton Plains, N.J.) was second in the javelin throw with a distance of 116'4".
HAMMER
Colbert also won the hammer throw in a career-best distance of 162'0", while freshman Abby Chorches (East Falmouth, Mass.) placed fourth with a throw of 141'2" and Williams was sixth with a throw of 137'9".
HIGH JUMP
Junior Saige Tudisco (Haverhill, Mass.) and graduate student Bosibori Mosongo (Indianapolis, Ind.) tied for second in the high jump at 5'3". Mosongo tied her personal best. Freshman Jori Santos (Bedford, N.H.) was fourth with a jump of 5'1" also tying her career best. Senior Lauren Quann (Pictou, Nova Scotia) was eighth (4'11").
POLE VAULT
The Wildcats took the top three positions today in the pole vault as senior Jordan Hoffman (North Chelmsford, Mass.) placed first (10'6"), sophomore Taylor Nydam (Hampton Falls, N.H.) was second (10'6") tying her career best and freshman Sarah Morin (Portsmouth, N.H.) was third (10'0").
LONG JUMP
The Wildcats dominated the long jump taking five of the top six positions. Tudisco was first (17'10.25"), sophomore Meline Almasian (Westford, Mass.) was third (17'4"), Mosongo was fourth (17'2.25"), junior Savannah Vartabedian (Wilbraham, Mass.) was fifth (17'1.50") and freshman Mia Taranko (Saco, Maine) was sixth (17'1.25").
TRIPLE JUMP
Taranko placed sixth in the triple jump (34'10.50").
SHOT PUT
Williams won the shot put with a distance of 41'8.50", while Chorches placed fifth with a distance of 34'10.25".
4 X 100M RELAY
The UNH 4 x 100 meter relay team of Almasian, junior Crismeily Borg (Nashua, N.H.), senior Kelly Crawford (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Zakiya Scott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the event in a time of 49.18.
1500 METERS
The first six athletes to finish the 1500 meters were Wildcats as freshman Elizabeth Martell (Essex Junction, Vt.) won with a time of 4:39.34. Senior Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.) placed second (4:41.18), junior Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) was third (4:41.52), junior Lauren Dean (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.) was fourth (4:42.79) with a career best time, graduate student Michaella Conery (Concord, N.H.) was fifth (4:43.68), graduate student Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) was sixth (4:49.13) and freshman Lily Doody (Lee, N.H.) was eighth (4:53.38).
100M HURDLES
Tudisco led the Wildcats with a time of 15.08 and a third-place finish, while Mosongo was fifth (15.90) and Quann was eighth (17.12).
400 METERS
Junior Kelly Hamlin (Balston Lake, N.Y.) secured a second-place finish with a time of 1:00.56 and freshman Natalie Fraser (Gilford, N.H.) was third with a time of 1:00.72. Nydam was fifth (1:02.67) and junior Sarah Fudger (South Hadley, Mass.) was eighth (1:06.03).
100 METERS
Borg recorded a second place finish with a time of 12.69 and Almasian earned a third-place finish with a time of 12.70. Vartabedian was sixth with a time of 13.10.
800 METERS
Sophomore Cailey Archer (Berthoud, Colo.) took the win by more than four seconds with a time of 2:17.00. Freshman Silvia Caddell (Salem, N.H.) placed third (2:22.28) and sophomore Samantha Maffeo (Billerica, Mass.) was fifth (2:24.23.).
400M HURDLES
Morin captured first place with a time of 1:05.25, while Scott was third (1:07.07) with a career best time and Crawford was fourth (1:07.45).
200 METERS
Borg led the Wildcats with a second-place finish with a time of 26.41. Mosongo was fifth (27.19) and Quann was eighth (28.11).
3000 METERS
Champagne posted a time of 10:13.17 to finish second, while graduate student Elisabeth Danis (Nottingham, N.H.) was third with a time of 10:22.58. Junior Althea Devereux (Jericho, V.T.) placed fifth (10:33.50) with a career best time and junior Jennika Mannesto (Concord, N.H.) was sixth (10:38.04) with a career best time.
4 X 400 METER RELAY
UNH took the first three positions as the team of Morin, Hamlin, Fraser and Scott won the event with a time of 4:00.45. The team of Archer, Caddell, Doody and Martell was second (4:08.44) and team of Dean, Yeomans, Barretto and Conery was third (4:12.52).
