KINGSTON, R.I. – The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team opened its indoor season on Friday afternoon down at the University of Rhode Island at the Mackal Fieldhouse.
The Wildcats were led on the day by sophomore jumper Nate Hobbs (Peabody, Mass.) who placed first in the long jump (7.14m) and high jump (1.98m), while sophomore Kevin McGrath (Hopkinton, N.H.) also matched teammate Hobbs with a jump of 1.98 meters in the high jump for the first-place tie.
"We tried to run guys in a lot of events and be in good competition," said UNH head coach Jim Boulanger. "There wasn't a lot of time between events, we did a good job and it was a good event to get going. There were some good wake me up performances. It was a good starting point and hopefully we can keep everyone healthy moving forward."
Junior thrower Patrick Brogioli (Milford, Mass.) finished in third place in the 35-lb. weight throw (16.07) and in the shot put (13.88m), both of which set new personal records.

Freshman Joshua Hoffman (Litchfield, N.H.) threw 13.80 meters in the shot put, while sophomore Andrew Fleming (Acton, Mass.) hit 14.26 meters in the weight throw, finishing fourth in their respective events.
The distance medley relay team of McElroy, Nkounkou, freshmen Dillon Adamy (Clinton, N.J.), and Aidan O'Hern (Concord, N.H.) finished second at 11:17.36.
