PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Senior Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) of the University of New Hampshire swimming and diving team set a new school and pool record in the 200 IM (1:58.32) on the opening day of the Bruno Invitational at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
Metzler broke Katie Mann's school record from 2014 of 1:58.78 at the NCAA's.
The Wildcats currently sit in fourth place among the four teams competing with 189 points on the first day of the three-day event.
"We are off to a great start today with a number of PRs and season beats from people.," said UNH head coach Josh Willman. "Anna did a great job breaking the UNH school record set back in 2014 by Katie Mann. We're excited for the days ahead."
UNH's relay team of Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden), Abby McKinney (Westfield, N.J.), Chiara Pradissitto (Milan, Italy) and Cate Wardinski (Burke, Va.) finished in second place in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:34.52 after posting a preliminary time of 1:38.14 earlier the day.
Wardinski also posted a time of 23.77 in the 50 free, which was good for fifth place on the day for the Wildcats.
UNH's 400 yard medley relay group comprised of Megumi Komoto (Schaumburg, Ill.), Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii), Pradissitto and Stille finished in fifth place with a mark of 3:49.30.
UNH returns to the pool on Saturday, December 4 at the Bruno Invitational. The preliminaries (10am) and finals (6pm) can been seen on ESPN+.
