Wildcats Excel at ECACs; UNH Wins Five Medals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Four University of New Hampshire swimmers competed at the ECAC Championships at Navy as the Wildcats won two gold medals and three silver.
Sophomore Anna Metzler (Regensburg, Germany) was named the Swimmer of the Meet as she won the 400 IM setting an America East, ECAC Championships and school record with a time of 4:07.20. The time is the 17th fastest in the nation.

Senior Corinne Carbone (Medway, Mass.) won the gold in the 200 IM and the silver in the 400 IM. She now has four career ECAC medals as she also took gold in the 400 IM and bronze in the 200 IM in 2018.
Freshman Jamy Lum (Honolulu, Hawaii) earned two silver medals at the championships as she placed second in the 200 IM and in the 100 breast.
Freshman Olivia Stille (Stockholm, Sweden) was seventh in the 50 free.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
200 IM

The Wildcats won gold and silver in the 200 IM on Friday. Carbone captured her second career ECAC championship with a time of 2:01.03. Lum set a personal best by four seconds with a time of 2:03.51 to earn silver.
50 FREE
Also on Friday, Stille placed seventh in the 50 free with a time of 23.65.
400 IM

On Saturday in the 400 IM, the Wildcats once again went first and second as Metzler won gold and Carbone took silver. The win gave Metzler her first career ECAC championship. Her time of 4:07.20 set new America East, ECAC Championships and school records as it was the 17th fastest time in the nation this season. Carbone earned her fourth career ECAC medal with a time of 4:16.01.

Then, Lum secured her second silver medal at the ECAC Championships with a time of 1:01.44.

Selections to the NCAA Championships will be announced on Wednesday, March 4. The NCAA Championships are from March 18-21 hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
