DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's cross country team, coming off a perfect score at Maine, heads to the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College this Friday, September 20.
MEET DETAILS:
Date: Friday, September 20 – 3:00 PM
Location: Franklin Park - Jamaica Plain, Mass.
Distance: 5K
The Wildcats will be led by fifth-year senior Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) in her 2019 cross country debut. Also debuting in this meet will be junior Caroline Mahoney (Bedford, N.H.); both runners were a key part of UNH Cross Country in the previous seasons, both competing at the NCAA Regional cross country meets in their career.
Joining them are junior Elisabeth Danis (Nottingham, N.H.) and reigning America East Performer of the Week Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.). Danis and Champagne were UNH's top finishers in the first two meets of the season.
New Hampshire rounds out its squad with other key performers from this season's first two meets: Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.), Michaella Conery (Concord, N.H.), Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.), Morgan Sansing (Chester, N.H.), Sydney Rice (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Eleonora Olsmats (Djursholm, Sweden) and Madeline Quigley (Rowley, Mass.) will also compete for the 'Cats on Friday.
"It's a pretty experienced group," says head coach Robert Hoppler. "We're excited to get the whole team back together."
The Wildcats will send the whole squad down to Jamaica Plain to challenge the top cross country programs in the country and get a feel of where the team is as a whole.
"We want to see where we're at here in late September," says Hoppler. "…and we'll build towards where we need to be in November."
