Colbert, Quann, Rice Pace ‘Cats in Pre-Conference Meet

UNH finishes third with 100.5 points.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's track & field squad hosted the annual pre-conference invitational on Saturday afternoon, as athletes from around the region got one more shot to improve seed times and qualify for their respective conference meets.
The Wildcats had a one-two finish in the 5000 meter run, with freshman Sydney Rice (Brooklyn, N.Y.) taking first in 18 minutes, 22.40 seconds, and senior Shannon Stang (Medford, N.J.) took second in 18:43.71, shattering her old personal best (19:24.11).
In the throws, sophomore Lauren Quann (Pictou, Nova Scotia) won the javelin throw with a distance of 123 feet, 7 inches. Junior Alyssa Colbert (Smithfield, R.I.) once again took first in the discus throw with a throw of 143'10". Colbert was also fourth in the hammer at 149'.
In the 4x100 relay UNH took runner up as the team of freshman Isabella Livingston (West Hartford, Conn.), freshman Julia Jankowski (Derry, N.H.), sophomore Maria Virga (Derry, N.H.), and freshman Crismeilly Borg (Nashua, N.H.) finished in 49.85 seconds.
UNH hosted UMass, UMass Lowell, Dartmouth, Vermont, and Maine in the home meet. New Hampshire finished third in the team score with 100.5 points, behind UMass with 153 and UMass Lowell with 150.5.

Other top performers for the Wildcats:
- Maria Virga also third in the 100 meter hurdles in 14.98 seconds.
- In the triple jump, freshman Veronica Chrzanowski (Haddam, Conn.) was the top Wildcat in fourth with a distance of 35'1.25". She was followed by junior Kendra Kukulski (Dracut, Mass.) in fifth at 34'8.5".
- In the 400m hurdles, freshman Kelly Crawford (Mansfield, Mass.) took third in 1:07.28.
- Freshman Kelly Hamlin (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) took third in the 400m with a time of 1:02.05.
