BOSTON – Several athletes from the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team traveled down to the Boston University track and tennis center for the annual David Hemery Valentine invitational.
The Wildcats, who will soon return to the BU Track and Tennis center for the America East Championships, got a chance to improve their seed times and prepare for the championship track in a variety of middle and long distance events.
In Friday's events, the Wildcats were once again led by senior Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) who set another new personal best in the mile. Murdock, who competed against some of the nations top talent in the event, bear her old personal best time set on that same track earlier this season (4 minutes, 44.73 seconds) with a new time of 4:41.61. Her time was good for a 12th place finish in the event, the top Wildcat finisher of Friday's events. Her time is currently the 31st fastest time in the nation in that event.
Fifth-year Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) competed in the 800 meter run, and just missed her own personal best in the event by just over two seconds. Her time of 2:09.63 was good for an 18th place finish in the event. Her time is currently good for 48th fastest in the nation.
