No.13 'Cats Fall at No. 2 JMU, Face Albany Next

HARRISONBURG, Va. – True freshman quarterback Max Brosmer (Roswell, Ga.) and senior running back Evan Gray (Centreville, Va.) each scored a rushing touchdown and redshirt freshman Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.) rolled up 238 all-purpose yards, but it was not enough and the No. 23 University of New Hampshire football team lost at No. 2 James Madison, 54-16, on Saturday afternoon.
UNH is now 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association. James Madison is 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the league.
The Wildcats have two games remaining in the regular season. They play at UAlbany on Saturday, Nov. 16 and then wrap up the regular season with a Border Battle game against Maine, presented by Buffalo Wild Wings, on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. at home in Wildcat Stadium.

Laube had 180 yards in return yardage on a school record eight return opportunities. He also had 15 yards rushing and 43 on a pair of pass receptions.
Redshirt freshman safety Max Oxendine (Chester, Va.) led the Wildcats with 12 tackles. Sophomore safety Pop Bush (Nocatee, Fla.) and true freshman linebacker Oleh Manzyk (Langhorne, Pa.) had eight tackles each.
James Madison had 221 yards rushing and 537 total yards of offense. UNH had 93 rushing yards and 243 yards of total offense.

1st QUARTER
- Brosmer opened the scoring with a 1-yard run with 11:12 left in the period to cap off UNH's first possession.
- The drive covered 76 yards in 7 plays.
- Ethan Rathke hit a 40-yard field goal for JMU with 6:00 left.
- Ben DiNucci connected with Brandon Polk for a 58-yard TD pass with 3:21 left.
- Junior Jason Hughes (Atkinson, N.H.) nailed a 44-yard field goal with 2:42 left in the period to tie it 10-10.
2ND QUARTER
- JMU scored three touchdowns to open a 30-10 lead at the half.
- Percy Agyei-Obese scored on a 24-yard run, Dylan Stapleton caught a 12-yard scoring pass from DiNucci and DiNucci scored on a 1-yard run.
3RD QUARTER
- Agyei-Obese scored on runs of 20 and 3 yards in the first 5:02 of the quarter.
- Gray scored on an 18-yard run with 3:26 left in the period to cut JMU's lead to 44-16.
4th QUARTER
- Ratke hit a 29-yard field goal with 12:14 left.
- Quarterback Cole Johnson scored on a 33-yard run with 5:06 left.
'CAT NIPS
- A 49-yard option pass from receiver Benyeal Hill Jr. (Stafford, Va.) to senior Malik Love (Alcoa, Tenn.) was a highlight of UNH's first scoring drive.
- Laube's eight kick returns broke the previous record of seven set by Dontra Peters in 2011.
- Carlos Washington Jr. (Fort Washington, Md.) led UNH with 11 carries for 58 yards.
- Love was tops in receiving with five catches for 67 yards.
- Brosmer completed 12 of his 21 passes for 101 yards.
- Senior Drew Sanborn (Amherst, N.H.) averaged 42.8 yards on four punts.
- The field goal by Hughes was his 13th of the year.
- UNH coach Ricky Santos was named interim head coach of the Wildcats when Sean McDonnell announced shortly before the season began that he was taking a leave of absence for medical reasons.
