Sophomore Nick Guadarrama Records Second Career Double-Double With 20 Points, 18 Rebounds

DURHAM, N.H. – Nick Guadarrama (Newington, Conn.) and Sean Sutherlin (New Brighton, Minn.) both recorded double-doubles to lead the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team to Tuesday night's season-opening 93-29 victory against Curry College at Lundholm Gym.
Guadarrama scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down a career- and game-high 18 rebounds for his second career double-double. Sutherlin, a junior transfer in his first game as a Wildcat, tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds.
UNH is 1-0, while this was an exhibition game for Division III Curry.

FIRST HALF
- The Wildcats got their 2019-2020 season underway strong with a 15-0 run in the opening 4 minutes, 8 seconds of game play.
- The first 21 points scored by the Wildcats were netted by Sutherlin (eight points), senior Chris Lester (Barrington, Ill.; six) and sophomore Jayden Martinez (Cibolo, Texas; seven).
- Halfway through the first period, the Wildcats led the Colonels, 30-3.
- With just two minutes remaining in the first half, the Wildcats extended their lead to 40 points at 48-8.
- Sutherlin led the Wildcats in the first half with 10 points. He was followed closely by Martinez with nine points.
- The 'Cats wrapped up the first half leading 53-8.
SECOND HALF
- UNH kept the momentum through the second half and pushed the margin to 60 points, 68-8, at 14:55.
- The Wildcats wrapped up their first game of the season with a final score of 93-29.
- Guadarrama tallied a double-double in the second half (13 points, 10 rebounds).
SERIES NOTEBOOK
- This marked the first ever matchup between the UNH and Curry men's basketball programs.
UNH NOTEBOOK
- A total of four Wildcats scored in double digits. In addition to Guadarrama and Sutherlin, Martinez netted 15 points and Lester had 10.
- Tuesday's home-opener marked the first game played as a Wildcat for Sutherlin, freshman Bryce Johnson (Weare, N.H) and sophomore forward Meekness Payne (Phoenix, Ariz.).
- Johnson finished with seven points and three rebounds; his five assists matched Mark Carbone (Wethersfield, Conn.) for the team lead; Carbone also tallied seven points and five rebounds.
- Payne finished with six points and seven rebounds.
- Guadarrama's 20 points is one less than his career high of 21 scored last February vs. Hartford.
