Murdock Leads ‘Cats at Terrier Invitational

Shannon Murdock takes first in the mile.
BOSTON – University of New Hampshire senior runner Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) took first place in the mile run at the John Thomas Terrier Invitational, setting a new personal best and winning her second mile run of the season.
Murdock, whom set a new personal best in the mile run at the Boston University season opener, raised that bar again with her first place finish in 4 minutes, 44.73 seconds. The result shaved five seconds off her old personal best, and is good for 12th in the nation.
New Hampshire had three other athletes competing at the Terrier Invitational; Fifth-year Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) took sixth in the 800 meter run standings, with a time of 2:08.53. Gajewski just missed out on matching her personal best by 1.32 seconds.
Junior Meg Champagne (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) finished 21st in the 5000m run with a time of 17:28.01.
Sophomore Cayla Barretto (Woburn, Mass.) finished 27th in the 1000m run standings, with a new personal best time of 3:00.31.
UP NEXT:
The weekend is not yet over for the 'Cats; New Hampshire faces off with Maine and Vermont in a home meet Saturday morning at 11 A.M. at the Paul Sweet Oval.
Next weekend the Wildcats head back to Boston for the 2018-19 New England Indoor Championships, hosted at Northeastern University from Friday, February 1 to Saturday, February 2.
