Wildcats Take First in Home Tri-Meet

‘Cats shine in the middle distance, relays.
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's track & field team competed against Maine and Vermont in a home tri-meet this Saturday, January 26 at the Paul Sweet Oval.
The Wildcats ran past the competition with seven individual winners and two relay team wins for a team total of 201.50 points.
ON THE TRACK
The Wildcats saw five individual winners in track events, with new personal bests set and three finishes in one-two fashion.
In the 500m run it was a one-two finish, with senior Jessica Hackett (Dover, N.H.) taking first in 1 minute, 19.53 seconds, and junior Elise Renahan (Atkinson, N.H.) taking second in 1:19.65.
Sophomore Maria Virga (Derry, N.H.) took first in the 200 meter dash, in 26.65 seconds, followed by sophomore Kelly Crawford (Mansfield, Mass.) in second in 26.78 seconds. Virga also took first in the 55 meter hurdles, with a new personal best time of 8.55 seconds.
Junior Brianne Moss (Shrewsbury, Mass.) took first in the 800m run, with a time of 2:25.00.
In the 1000m run, fifth-year Shannon Stang (Medford, N.J.) took first with a time of 3:03.89¸ a new personal best in the event. She was followed closely by junior Madeleine Brandon (Killingworth, Conn.) who took second in 3:04.04.
IN THE FIELD
Freshman Saige TuDisco (Haverhill, Mass.) took first in both the high jump and the long jump. In the high jump she tied with junior transfer Bosibori Monsongo (Indianapolis, Ind.) with a height of 5 feet, 1.75". In the long jump, TuDisco won with a distance of 16'11.5". The runner up in the long jump was junior Kendra Kukulski (Dracut, Mass.) with a distance of 16'6".
RELAY SWEEP
The Wildcats took both the 4x400 relay and the Distance-Medley relay on Saturday afternoon. The 4x400 was won by the team of senior Emileigh Glode (Boxborough, Mass.), Hackett, freshman Alyssa Doust (Marshfield, Mass.) and Renahan, and their finishing time was 4:04.26
In the DMR, the team of junior Michaella Conery (Concord, N.H.), freshman Lauren Dean (Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H.), sophomore Shaylyn Saunders (Hudson, N.H.), and freshman Nicole Yeomans (Foxborough, Mass.) took first in 12:41.75.

UP NEXT:
Next weekend the Wildcats head back to Boston for the 2018-19 New England Indoor Championships, hosted at Northeastern University from Friday, February 1 to Saturday, February 2.

- In the throws, freshman Sara Williams (Dover, N.H.) took third in the shot put with a distance of 38'5.5", and took third in the weight throw with a new personal best of 46'8.75".
- Alyssa Doust also took second in the 55m dash, with a new personal best time of 7.54 seconds. She was followed up by freshman Crismeily Borg (Nashua, N.H.) in third with 7.59 seconds.
