Four 'Cats Receive America East All-Conference Accolades

Bossi and van den Brekel Named All-Conference East Division; Caron Selected to All-Rookie Team; Sliz Voted to All-Academic Team
STANFORD, Calif. -- Rachel Bossi (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Bloem van den Brekel (Eindhoven, Netherlands) of the University of New Hampshire field hockey team were named to the America East All-Conference East Division Team at the annual conference banquet on Wednesday night. Teammate Finn Caron (Hampton, N.H.) was named to the All-Rookie Team, while Kayla Sliz (Ajax, Ontario) was an All-Academic Team honoree.
Bossi, who received this honor for the second consecutive year, started all 17 regular-season games as a senior midfielder and co-captain. She has recorded eight points on one goal and six assists. Bossi is UNH's leader in assists who ranks eighth in the conference. Against nationally-ranked opponents, she has recorded three assists and tallied a career-high two assists in the final regular-season game against Dartmouth College. Bossi has been a key part of penalty corners, both offensively and defensively, including the stick-stop. She was recently named to the NFHCA Senior Game and the America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year.

van den Brekel, the reigning America East Offensive Player of the Week and 2017 All-Rookie Team honoree, sits atop the UNH leaderboard in points (14). She is also tied in goals (six) and has two assists on the season. In the last four regular-season games, the sophomore forward has recorded 10 points on five goals, including a career high of three against Dartmouth; the six points vs. the Big Green also marked a personal best. van den Brekel's other season highlights included a three-point effort against Bryant University.
Caron started all 17 regular-season games. She is tied for first in goals (six) and has one assist for 13 points, which ranks second; Caron has also scored three of the team's six game-winning goals to rank sixth in America East in that statistic. She scored her first collegiate and game-winning goal against Bryant. The freshman forward notched a goal against nationally-ranked Albany and has recorded five points in the last five regular-season games.
Sliz, a junior midfielder, was in the starting lineup all 17 regular-season games. She contributed three points on one goal and one assist, with the goal scored in a conference matchup against the University of Vermont. Sliz is a psychology major with a 3.83 cumulative grade-point average.
