McAteer Stops Six Shots in 3-0 Loss at No. 17 Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore goalkeeper Madelyn McAteer (Annapolis, Md.) made a career-high six saves in her first career start, but the University of New Hampshire field hockey team was defeated 3-0 by 17th-ranked Harvard University on Sunday afternoon at Harvard Field Hockey Stadium.
McAteer, whose five previous career appearances were all off the bench – including three this season, shut out Harvard in the first half but the Crimson scored second-half goals in the 48th, 50th and 62nd minutes. McAteer was credited with two saves in the first half and four in the second.
Harvard goalie Libby Manela made three saves for the shutout. Maddie Earle scored twice and Hannah Wellington tallied the other goal.
UNH is now 3-4 overall and Harvard improved to 4-2.

- McAteer played 127:52 of a possible 140 minutes this weekend. She made 11 saves and allowed five goals for a .688 save percentage.
- New Hampshire had won each of the previous seven meetings against Harvard. The last time the Crimson had defeated the Wildcats was September 2007.
