Chiesa Leads Five Top Finishes at Maine

ORONO, Maine – Five first-place finishes led the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team to a third-place finish (87 points) at the University of Maine in the tri-meet on Sunday.
Senior Ryan Chiesa (Stockholm, N.J.) ran a personal-record time in the 1,500-meter run for first place with a time of 4:05.15. It was Chiesa's first attempt at the event in his career as he is typically a cross country runner.
Junior Alex Tamulonis (Mason, N.H.) collected first place in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet, 5.25 inches. The New Hampshire native finished fourth at the 2016 America East Outdoor Championships with a height of 15 feet, 5 inches.
Sophomore Jon Chapman (Warwick, R.I.) set a personal-best mark in the hammer throw with a distance of 167 feet, 2 inches for first place overall. He improved a little more than 20 feet from his previous hammer throw attempt at the 2016 America East Outdoor Championships with a toss of 147 feet, 3 inches.
Other notable first-place finishes were Nicholas Ritzo (Rye, N.H.) in the shot put (50 feet, 4.50 inches) and Aaron Dobe (Contoocook, N.H.) in the 100-meter dash (11.30 seconds) for a personal-best time.
