Murnane Takes Pole Vault to Lead 'Cats at URI

KINGSTON, R.I. - Junior Kari Murnane (Byram, N.J.) led a strong showing in the pole vault to pace the University of New Hampshire women's indoor track & field team to a fourth-place result in the Coaches Tribute invitational meet at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday.

Murnane won the event with a vault of 11 feet, 5.75 inches. Sophomore Grace Slevin (Bozeman, Mont.) tied for second and sophomore Sabrina Anderson (Homewell, N.J.) tied for sixth.

The Wildcats collected 77.25 points to grab fourth place of 14teams. The University of Massachusetts won the meet with 125.5 points. Rhode Island (118.75) was second and Holy Cross (81) was third.

UNH was ranked 36^th in the country and 10^th in the Northeast Region this week.

Junior All American Elinor Purrier will compete in the invitational Wanamaker Mile at the prestigious Millrose Games on Saturday, Feb. 11.
One group of Wildcats will compete at the David Hemery Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Another group will compete that day in a meet at the University of Maine.
The America East Indoor Championships will be held Feb. 24 and Feb. 25 at the Track & Tennis Center at Boston University.

RACE RESULTS

Senior Alex Giese (Franklin, Mass.) finished second in the mile for the Wildcats. Other top results included:

Senior Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) was third in the 1,000 meters.
Sophomore Jessica Hackett (Dover, N.H.) was third in the 400 meter dash.
Junior Emma Checovich (No. Hampton, N.H.) finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles.
Freshman Koryn Joswiakowski (McDonald, Pa.) was fourth in the triple jump.
Junior Emily Wernig (Gilford, N.H.) was fourth in the weight throw.
Junior Kayla Farren (Nashua, N.H.) finished fifth in the 3,000 meter run.
Junior Tessa Artruc (Livonia, N.Y.) was fifth in the high jump.
