INDIANAPOLIS – Sophomores Sarah Moore (Lisbon, Maine) and Ruth White (Orono, Maine) of the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team have been selected to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East First Round that will be held May 27-30 at the University of Kentucky. The announcement was made Thursday by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Championships sub-committee.
Moore will compete in the long jump (May 28 at 6pm) and White is in the 10,000-meter run (May 29 at 9:10pm). It is the second consecutive year both Wildcats compete in those events at the NCAA First Round meet.
The First Round is split into two regions – East and West; both regions have 48 competitors in every event. The top 12 finishers from both the East and West advance to the national championship meet June 10-13 at the University of Oregon.
"I'm very excited to see what our student-athletes will do on a national stage. Go 'Cats!" said Anna Magle-Haberek, the director of the women's and men's track & field and cross country programs.
Moore, the 2026 America East Women's Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Year, won the America East women's outdoor long jump title for the second consecutive year with a winning mark of 6.13 meters (20 feet-1.5 inches) at the conference championship meet. She led all six rounds following an effort of 6.03m on her first attempt.
Moore's day at the America East Championships began by running the anchor leg of UNH's record-setting 4x100m relay team; the quartet crossed the finish line in 46.23 seconds.
And then between her first three and last three rounds in the long jump, she ran a personal-best time of 24.21 seconds to earn sixth place in the 200m dash. It would have been a school record if not for the wind-aided recording of +4.3 meters per second; the reading must be below +2.0 m/s to be considered for a school record.
Moore qualified – tied as the 46th seed – for the East region long jump on her best mark of the season – 6.19m – established at the Virginia Challenge on April 17. She also won the long jump at both UNH's Jim Boulanger Invitational and SNHU's Ed Daniels Classic.
Last year, Moore finished in 28th place at the First Round meet, which was at the University of North Florida (Jacksonville, Fla.).
Moore is UNH's long jump record holder for both indoor and outdoor, and she has won three consecutive America East long jump titles spanning 2025 outdoor, 2026 indoor and 2026 outdoor.
White is seeded 27th in the 10,000m with a season-best time of 33 minutes, 29.85 seconds at the Virginia Challenge. She did not compete during the 2025-26 indoor track & field season and made her 2026 outdoor debut at UNH's Jim Boulanger Invitational in the second week of the season. She won the 5,000m by nearly 1 minute, 37 seconds. One week later, she broke the 5,000m school record with a time of 16:03.28 at the Friar Invitational.
White made her season debut in the 10,000m April 17 at the Virginia Challenge and distanced herself from the field with a winning time of 33:29.85. She also ran the 10,000m at the America East Championships and crossed the finish line in 33:55.29 to finish in second place.
In 2025, White ran sub-33 minutes in the 10,000m three times. She recorded a school-record time of 32:50.17 to place sixth at the NCAA First Round and advance to the Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she earned All-America Second Team by placing ninth and breaking her record in 32:20.60.
White holds a pair of UNH outdoor track & field records – the 5,000m (16:22.78) and 10,000m.
