Wildcats Finish Third at Jaylin Rainford Invitational

Briana Davis Finishes as Women's co-MVP
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Briana Danis (Hooksett, N.H.), sophomores Mariam Nada (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Emma Reaves (Westminster, Md.), and freshman Natalia Rothwell (Acton, Maine) all won an individual title to highlight the University of New Hampshire women's track & field team's 2026 outdoor opener at the Jaylin Rainford Invitational, which was held Friday at the Bryant University Track & Turf Complex.
UNH finished in third place out of 16 teams with 99 points. Bryant topped the table with 204 points and was followed by College of the Holy Cross at 115. Danis tied for the women's MVP by scoring 16 points with a win in the hammer and third place in the discus; her 16 points tied for third best at the meet including all women and men.

Danis set the standard of 50.46 meters (165 fet-6 inches) on her first throw in the hammer and that stood as the winning mark. Reaves finished fourth in the event with a distance of 49.35m (161-11).
Reaves took top honors in the discus with a toss of 45.38m (148-10) to lead three Wildcats who placed in the top five. Sitting in 14th place through two rounds, Reaves unleashed her winning throw on her third attempt. Danis recorded a throw of 44.11m (144-8) to finish third and sophomore Ruby Prentiss (Falmouth, Maine) had a best effort of 39.04m (128-1) for fifth place. Danis and Prentiss also recorded their scoring throws in the third round.
Nada won the 100m in a photo finish as two runners crossed the line in 12.27 seconds, but when extended to hundredths-of-a-second, Nada was timed at 12.262 and Jalena Martin crossed the line at 12.266.
Rothwell was one of three high jump competitors who cleared 1.50 meters (4 feet-11 inches) but earned first place because she was the only one who did so on the first attempt. Sophomore Sydney Valenti (Plymouth, N.H.) cleared 1.45m and finished sixth in the field of 16 high jump entrants.
"I'm happy with how the team performed at our outdoor opener," said Anna Magle-Haberek, the director of cross country and track & field teams. "We had some PRs as well as individuals who competed well and won events. I'm looking forward to seeing what this team will do this spring."
Grad student Claire Ronan (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) ran to a second-place finish in the 1,500m with a time of 4 minutes, 31.43 seconds. Senior Ella Malone (Barrington, N.H.) was eighth across the finish line in 4:47.79; there were a total of 63 runners in six heats.
Junior Audrey Thornton (Reading, Mass.) was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 5.46m (17-11). Thornton moved into second place with a mark of 5.40m in the second round and recorded her top mark of the day in round three.
The 4x800m relay quartet of Delaney Hesler (Steep Falls, Maine), Juliana Sciortino (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Lauren Boilard(San Francisco, Calif.) and Reagan Hoy (Surry, N.H.) completed the eight laps in 9:56.65 to finish in third place, one second behind the runner-up.
Thornton went on to finish in fourth place in the 200m with a personal-best time of 25.87. Junior Kailey Dillon (Merrimack, N.H.) raced to eighth place by crossing the finish line in 26.85.
Earlier in the meet, Dillon led three Wildcats in the 100m hurdles in seventh place overall with a time of 16.14 seconds.
Freshman Payton Goulding (Cumberland, R.I.) placed fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.20m (40-0.50). She recorded that throw in the first round – of the 31 competitors, Goulding was 1 of 12 who recorded her top mark in the first round.
Junior Jules Hickey (Pawling, N.Y.) was clocked in 1:07.93 in heat 1 of the 400m hurdles to place seventh both in the heat and overall.
Sophomore Bailey Hall (Yardley, Pa.) took seventh place in the 5,000m with a time of 17:52.76.
Sophomore Ayva Mullen (Webster, N.H.) finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 10.45m (34-3.5) that she recorded on her second attempt.
