GAME RECAP
- Maine opened the game scoring at 16:23 when Ricker dribbled deep on the right wing parallel to the end line and struck a rising shot into the cage.
- Casey Crowley scored on a shot 10 yards straight out from the right post to increase the advantage to 2-0 at 33:06.
- It looked as if the Black Bears would take a two-goal lead into halftime, but UNH scored with seven seconds on the clock to trim the deficit to 2-1.
- On a restart just inside the 25, Mendonca's hit from the top-left side was redirected by Audino into the cage.
- Maine reestablished a two-goal lead, 3-1, at 41:59. Lydia Gavner drove along the right end line and centering pass in front of the goalmouth was redirected in by Ricker.
- New Hampshire called time out at 44:40, but the Black Bears pushed the margin to 4-1 at 50:53. Crowley's hit to the top of the circle was corralled by Riley Field, who blasted a reverse-stick shot into the cage.
- The Wildcats closed within 4-2 at 61:59 when Bensaia advanced along the right end line and her centering pass in front was one-timed by van den Brekel into an open cage.
- Maine called a timeout at 64:25, but the Wildcats generated a penalty corner two minutes later. van den Brekel inserted the ball to Bensaia, and Jessica Schmidt (Warrington, Pa.) blasted a direct shot toward the right post. Cochran, with her leg pads stacked, made the save to preserve the two-goal lead.
- The 'Cats continued to pressure, however, and pulled within 4-3 with 2:17 remaining in regulation.
- Scafidi dribbled deep on the right side of the circle. Cochran came out to challenge and stacked the pads, which allowed Scafidi to lift a shot into the cage.
- UNH gained possession at midfield with 45 seconds remaining but could not advance the ball inside the 25 as Maine withstood the late charge.
