Smith’s 27 Points Cruises Past Hartford, 81-56

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior Jaleen Smith (Freeport, Texas) finished with 27 points as the University of New Hampshire men's basketball team (13-7, 4-2 AE) earned its seventh road win of the season at the University of Hartford (6-15, 1-5 AE), 81-56, Sunday afternoon at Chase Arena.

New Hampshire returns home on Wednesday, Jan. 25 (7 PM) to host UMass Lowell in Lundholm Gym on ESPN3. The Wildcats welcome back students from winter break in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UNH led for all but 22 seconds in the first half with a dominate 51.7 percent shooting and seven threes. The 'Cats distributed 11 assists on 15 baskets to open the game and went 6 of 8 from the free throw line. UNH outplayed Hartford in fast break points (5-0), second chance points (8-0) and points off turnovers (15-2). UNH went on an 11-0 run to close out the half led by Smith with six points. Seven of the eight athletes who played scored in the first half.
New Hampshire led by 20+ for most of the second frame. Smith scored 15 of his 27 points in the second half and the team shot 15 of 25 (60.0 percent) in the final frame.
