Women’s Track Heads to New England Indoor Championships (Feb. 26-27)

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's track & field team is set to compete at the New England Championships at the Boston University Track and Field Center (Feb. 26-27).
Last Season's Championships
New Hampshire placed sixth overall in last year's championships (Feb. 27-28) as the Wildcats scored 50 points.

Lauren Perrodin- 2nd – 60 Meter Dash (7.65)
Danielle Gajewski- 5th – 500 Meter Dash (1:16.82)
Cassandra Kruse- 2nd – 1,000 Meter Run (2:54.06)
Laura Rose Donegan- 6th - Mile Run (5:00.34)
Meet Details
The meet kicks off on Friday, (Feb. 26) at 10:00 am with men's 60-meter heptathlon finals. The second day (Feb. 27) begins at 10:00 am with the men's 60-meter heptathlon hurdle finals and wraps up at 3:55 pm with the women's 4x400-meter relay finals followed by the awards ceremony.
Next Up
The Wildcats will head to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships next weekend, Saturday-Sunday (March 5-6) at Boston University.
'Cat Facts
Freshman Shannon Murdock (Exeter, N.H.) finished first in the distance medley relay (11:28.56) and the 4x800-meter relay (9:12.39) as opening legs in both, while also finishing fourth in the 800-meter race (2:15.23) at last weeks America East Indoor Championships (Feb. 19-20). Murdock has also enjoyed success in the mile finishing first against Maine and Vermont with a time of 4:58.67. Her career best in the mile came at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational finishing at 4:57.48.
Senior Lauren Perrodin (Coral Springs, Fla.) has eight first-place finishes so far this indoor season. At the America East Championship, she finished 2nd in 60-meter dash with a time of 7.65 seconds. Perrodin also finished 7th in the 200 meter with a time of 25.50. Perrodin holds the school record in the dash with a time of 7.53 seconds which she set last year.
Sophomore Danielle Gajewski (Danville, N.H.) will be competing in the 500-meter race this weekend. Last week at the America East Indoor Championships, she finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.23, a new personal-best time, and was also apart of the first place DMR team (11:28.56). Her 1:15.71 time for the 500 meter at the 2015 Jay Carisella Track and Field Invitational was her best for this season on a third-place finish.
Sophomore Hannah Kimball (Atkinson, N.H.) will be competing in the mile race at the New England Championships. At last week's America East Indoor Championship, Kimball finished second in mile at 4:58.55. Earlier this season, she set her best time for the mile at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet, finishing first in 4:57.45. Kimball was also part of the first place DMR team at the America East Indoor Championships finishing in 11:28.56. Kimball did not compete at last year's New England Championships.
Junior Sarah Keiran (Rowley, Mass.) will be competing in the mile race at the New England Championships this weekend. During last week's America East Indoor Championships, Kieran's 5:04.32 time was good enough for sixth in the final race. Against Maine and Vermont, she finished third in the mile at 5:06.60. In last year's New England Championships, Kieran ran the 3000-meter finishing in tenth place with a time of 9:59.20.
Sophomore Angelyn Masters (Bangor, Maine) is set to compete in the mile race at the New England Championships this coming weekend. Masters ran in the 4x800-meter relay race at the America East Indoor Championships finishing in first place with a time of 9:12.39 as the second leg. Her best mile time this season came at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet where she finished seventh with a time of 5:06.82. In last year's New England Championships, Masters ran in the DMR (12:03.67) and the 4x800-meter race (9:16.22) finishing eighth in both events.
Senior Alex Giese (Franklin, Mass) will be competing in the mile race this weekend at the New England Championships. Her best finish came against Maine where she finished second with the best time of her college career (4:57.89). At last week's America East Indoor Championship, Giese competed in the 1000-meter race finishing in ninth place with a time of 2:58.48. During last year's New England Championships, Giese finished 11th in the mile with a time of 5:06.64.
Senior Chelsey Serrano (Raymond, N.H) is set to compete in the 3000-meter race at the New England Championships this coming weekend. In last week's America East Indoor Championships, Serrano finished fourth in the 3000-meter race with a time of 9:52.13, which was the best time of her season. Serrano also competed in the mile this season with her best finish coming at the Jay Carisella Track and Field Invitational where she finished second at 5:02.72, a career-best mile time. Serrano did not compete in last year's New England Championships.
