Women’s Swimming & Diving in Second Place Following Day Three of AE Championships

WORCESTER, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire women's swimming and diving team is in second place after the third day of competition at the America East Championships, held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The Wildcats have a total of 588.5 points through 14 events.
WHAT HAPPENED
Freshman Brittany Driscoll (Wallingford, Conn.) earned the first victory of the finals session as she touched the wall first in the 400-yard individual medley. She swam all four strokes to an ECAC-A qualifying time of four minutes, 21.47 seconds. Sophomore Bridget Miller (Longmeadow, Mass.) tagged the wall third with a time of 4:25.75, also an ECAC-A qualifying time.
Sophomore Jessica Harper (Easthampton, Mass.) took gold in the 100-yard butterfly with a result of 55.85 seconds, just one-tenth of a second faster than second place. Her time was an ECAC-A qualifying time.
In the 200-yard freestyle, sophomore Liza Baykova (Moscow, Russia) won the conference title as she was just two-tenths of a second off her conference record time set last year. Her time of 1:47.68 was an NCAA-B consideration time. Freshman Brittany Moffatt (Cedar Falls, Iowa) touched the wall in second place with a time 1:51.03, an ECAC-A qualifying time.
The 400-yard medley relay quartet of Harper, Baykova, Sarah Broderick (Haverhill, Mass.) and Bettina Caspersen (Lyngby, Denmark) finished the event with a time of 3:47.94, an ECAC-A qualifying result. Freshman Linnea Lemerise (Brentwood, N.H.) paced her way to a silver medal in the 100-yard back stroke with an ECAC-A qualifying time of 56.48 seconds.
Diver Hailee Miller (Milton, Mass.) recorded a score of 223.05 to finished third in the event. Erin Cullather (Highland Park, Ill.) posted a fourth-place mark of 201.80 points. Caspersen took fourth place to tally 15 points for the Wildcats in the 100-yard breaststroke. She tagged the wall to an ECAC-A qualifying mark of 1:05.03.
