Fogarty Gets Double-Double, But 'Cats Fall to Yale

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior forward Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) scored a career high 17 points and had her first double-double of the season, but Yale University rallied late to pull out a 64-58 win over the UNH women's basketball team Sunday in Lundholm Gymnasium.
UNH had its winning streak snapped at five games and fell to 6-3 on the season. Yale improved to 8-3 with its fifth straight road win.
Fogarty led all players in the back-and-forth game in both points and rebounds with her 11.
Junior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) had 11 points and sophomore forward Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) had 10 to join Fogarty in double figures in scoring.

The Wildcats play Sacred Heart at home Sunday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. They face Central Connecticut State, also at home, Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 4:30 p.m. After a Christmas break, they play Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Manhattan College at 7 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
Fogarty scored 10 of her 17 points in the third quarter when UNH turned a 25-24 halftime deficit to a 43-41 advantage after three periods.
Fogarty grabbed six of her rebounds on the offensive end and helped the Wildcats to a 38-33 edge in rebounding overall, 11-5 on the offensive boards.
The Wildcats made six of their 14 three-pointers – led by senior guard Kristen Anderson (Greene, Maine) who made two of her three-point attempts.
Storey and Anderson also helped the Wildcats to a 17-8 edge in bench points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The teams went back and forth throughout the first half when there were eight lead changes and the score was tied three times.
A Fogarty three-pointer from the top of the key late in the half made it 25-24 Yale at the break.
Fogarty had seven points and four rebounds to lead the 'Cats in the first half. UNH had a 19-14 edge on the boards in the first 20 minutes. UNH made two of its six three-pointers in the half, Yale was 0-for-7.
UNH fell behind 32-27 early in the third and then Fogarty led a charge that put the 'Cats up 39-34 with 2:32 to play.
Fogarty ended up with 10 points in the period.
The Wildcats took their largest lead of the night at 55-49 with 4:04 left in the fourth period.
But the Bulldogs heated up from there and hit three straight three-pointers and ran off 11 straight points to take charge and collect the win.
