Storey, Frontcourt Pace Win Over Sacred Heart, 71-43

DURHAM, N.H. – Frontcourt players Carlie Pogue (Cincinnati, Ohio), Kat Fogarty (Westminster, Mass.) and Ashley Storey (Cumberland, Maine) led the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team to a decisive victory over Sacred Heart University, 71-43, on Sunday afternoon in Lundholm Gymnasium.
Pogue, a junior center, led the Wildcats with 16 points and Fogarty, a junior forward, added 15. Each had eight rebounds. Storey, a sophomore forward, had a season-high 12 points and led all players in the game with nine rebounds.
Junior guard Aliza Simpson (Londonderry, N.H.) and freshman guard Caroline Soucy (Beverly, Mass.) each had 10 points to give the Wildcats five players in double figures.
UNH improved to 7-3 for the season and has won six of its last seven games. Sacred Heart fell to 3-7.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats play Central Connecticut State at home Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 4:30 p.m. as part of an Ugly Holiday Sweater doubleheader with the UNH men's team. Fans are encouraged to wear their sweaters and prizes will be awarded. The men play Daniel Webster College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS
The Wildcats put together a well-balance, all-around effort to beat the Pioneers.
They had the five scorers in double figures and five players with at least five rebounds. Senior guard Kristen Anderson (Greene, Maine) started in place of injured junior guard Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) who did not play and contributed seven assists. Anderson also made both of her three-point attempts for her six points.
The Wildcats had 20 assists on their 26 field goals and had only 11 turnovers in the game. They outrebounded Sacred Heart 40-25 and made 14 of their 16 foul shots. UNH made five of its 11 three-point field goal attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Six different players scored in the first period to help the Wildcats to a 15-6 lead at the initial break.
Storey had six of her eight first-half points and all four of her first-half rebounds in the second period. UNH owned a 27-19 lead at the half.
Fogarty and the Wildcats broke it open in the third period. She had 11 points in the quarter when the Wildcats outscored the visitors, 26-10.
Soucy made both of her three-pointers in the fourth period as the Wildcats extended their lead.
