New Hampshire has a 5-3 overall record that includes 4-1 in the CAA and 2-1 at home (1-1 in conference home games).
The Wildcats are 4-1 the past five games following last Saturday's 21-7 road win against Towson University at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
UNH's two losses to FCS competition have been by a total of four points.
UNH has a 7-3 record the past 10 games against nationally-ranked teams. (spanning 2014-16 seasons)
Since the start of the 2007 season, UNH has a 49-7 record at home for a .875 win percentage; that includes 33-5 (.868) in CAA conference games. The Wildcats' win streak of 17 consecutive regular-season home games ended earlier this month with the 42-39 loss to No. 6 James Madison.
UNH has not lost consecutive home games since 2004 – Sept. 18 to William & Mary (9-7) and Oct. 16 to UMass (38-21).
New Hampshire has a 3-1 lifetime record, including 2-0 at home, against Stony Brook. The Seawolves prevailed 31-6 last September at LaValle Stadium. UNH was a 28-20 victor the last time these teams met in Durham (Oct. 25, 2014).
No. 22/20 Stony Brook is 5-2 overall with a 4-0 record in the CAA and 2-1 mark on the road (2-0 in conference road games). The Seawolves extended their win streak to three games following last weekend's 28-3 road win against Delaware.
On paper, this is a defensive battle. In the national rankings, UNH is No. 22 in scoring defense (21.1 points per game against), sixth in red zone defense (.652) and 17th in turnovers gained (16); Stony Brook is No. 11 in scoring defense (17.9 ppg) and 13th in both rushing defense (105.4 yards/game) and total defense (296.6 yards/game).
SBU is near the bottom of the national rankings (122 teams) in a handful of offensive stats: 104th in scoring offense; 110th in total offense; 102nd in completion percentage; 114th in first downs; and 117th in passing offense.
Stony Brook's defense has not allowed a TD the past 10 quarters and has surrendered a total of nine points in that span.
