Men’s Cross Country Heads to Boston Coast-to-Coast Meet (Sept. 25; 3:30 p.m.)

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's cross country team will travel to Boston College for the Boston Coast-to-Coast meet Friday, Sept. 25 (3:30 p.m.) against 16 teams from across the country.
The meet features a 5K women's race that begins at 3 p.m. followed by the men's 8K race. Both men's and women's groups are allowed 10 student-athletes per team. At 4:15 p.m. there is a JV combined 5K where teams are allowed unlimited participants.
This meet is the last meet before championship season begins.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats are coming off a second place finish at a dual meet against the University of Maine in Orono. The 'Cats scored 47 points on the afternoon.
TOP-7 WILDCATS LAST TIME OUT
SENIOR McCARTHY
Captain Brendan McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.) is set to race for the third time this season. He opened the season (Sept. 5) in Durham, N.H. with a seventh place finish to pace all 'Cats in a time of 16 minutes, 1.77 seconds on a 5K course. The next week, McCarthy finished in 27:05.10 for a 19th place finish at Stony Brook University's 8K course (Sept. 12).
PIAZZA TIME
Sophomore Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) will race following a week off after the Stony Brook Invitational where he placed 31st with an 8K time of 28:10.04. The outdoor track & field standout is looking to make the jump in his second season in cross country.
DUTTON FOR DISTANCE
Junior Mitchell Dutton (Salem, N.H.) also returns after a weeklong break after competing at the first two races of the year. Most recently, the New Hampshire Native placed 13th overall (26:57.58) at Stony Brook to lead the Wildcats. To open the year at home, Dutton placed 18th overall in the 5K race.
MORE MISTRETTA
Mistretta is set to race his second meet in a row, following the fifth place finish at Maine. He took a week off after the season opener where he placed 21st in the 5K course with a time of 16:32.94. The sophomore placed 33rd overall (17:03.0) in last season's Coast-to-Coast meet in the 3.12-mile race.
FRESHMEN FREQUENTS
Freshmen Cody Symonds (Alton, N.H.), Matthew Geraci (Honeoye-Falls, N.Y.), Hoerner and D. Yost will all compete in this upcoming meet. Symonds opened the season racing in the first two meets. He placed 13th in the home opening 5K race, breaking the tape in 16:19.7, and followed that up with a 27:39.8 time at Stony Brook for 27th place. Geraci began the season with an 8th place finish in 16:02.5 at home, followed by a 24th place finish at Stony Brook (28:26.5). Hoerner and D. Yost are entering this meet after racing at the dual meet with Maine. Hoerner will run his fourth straight race this weekend while D. Yost opened his season last week at Maine.
The Wildcats will have 15 days off following this weekend's meet. They travel to Boston College for the New England Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Sept. 25.
