Piazza Earns IC4A Title in 800 Meter Run, Team Wraps Up Competition

PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore Drew Piazza (Danvers, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track and field team placed first in the 800-meter run on the final day of the IC4A Championships Sunday. The three-day competition took place at Princeton University.
The Wildcats took 15th place overall as they totaled 24.50 points. LIU Brooklyn took first with 60 points while the University at Albany finished second with 41.50 points. The United States Naval Academy took third after registering 40 points. George Mason University took fourth (39) as Hampton University and Cornell University finished tied for fifth (34).
Piazza was the top qualifier heading into Sunday's finals of the 800-meter run as he bested a field of 31 competitors in the preliminaries on Saturday. In the finals, Piazza ran his way to a winning time of one minute, 48.62 seconds to earn 10 points for the Wildcats.
Senior Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) finished second overall in Sunday's finals of the 1,500-meter run. He ran a time of 3:46.66, finishing just five one-hundredths of a second off the first place time. His second place result added eight points to the total for UNH.
