The Wildcats suffered their first America East setback in a 3-2 loss at Stony Brook University (Oct. 11). Freshman Gaby Dorsey (Hubertus, Wis.) scored off a header on a free kick from sophomore Brooke Murphy (Monson, Mass.) to reduce the deficit to 2-1 in the 70th minute. Murphy then went on to tally a goal of her own, in the 85th minute, on a 25-yard strike that finished top left. A minute later, the Seawolves were awarded a penalty kick, which was buried for the win. Junior Mimi Borkan (Medfield, Mass.) made four saves in the loss, dropping her record to 6-6-3.
LAST TIME OUT FOR MAINE (7-5-1, 2-1-1 AE)
Maine improved to 2-1-1 in conference play following a 1-0 victory over the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (Oct. 11).
