Megan Bozek ’14 rejoined the University of New Hampshire field hockey program as an assistant coach in May 2018. Bozek was a two-time All-American and two-time America East Defensive Player of the Year in her four-year Wildcat playing career that spanned the 2010-13 seasons.

Under her tutelage, Maura Verleg was honored as America East Rookie of the Year in 2019.

Bozek, a 2014 alumna with a degree in Secondary Math Education, was named a Longstreth/NFHCA All-America First Team honoree and conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior back in 2013, when she helped UNH win the regular-season and tournament titles en route to an NCAA tournament appearance.

New Hampshire won the America East regular-season title all four years Bozek was on the roster – including a perfect 5-0 in 2010, 2012 and 2013 – and was the league tourney champion in ’11 and ’13.

Bozek recorded 29 goals and eight assists for 66 points, as well as 13 defensive saves, in 85 career games as a Wildcat.

Off the field, she was named to the NFHCA All-Academic Squad three times.

Prior to coming back to UNH in 2018, Bozek was an assistant coach at UMass Lowell for two years (2016-17). Her primary responsibilities included working with the goalkeepers and team’s defensive unit, as well as recruiting, scouting opponents and video exchange.

Prior to Bozek’s arrival, UML went 5-14 overall and 0-8 in America East; in her first year with the program, the River Hawks improved to 8-11, 3-5; and in year two, UML recorded its first win against a nationally-ranked team (as a member of DI) and increased its win total to nine.

Also of note, UMass Lowell’s defense showed steady improvement under Bozek’s tutelage. UML allowed 2.40 goals per game in the 2017 season in comparison to 3.00 in 2016 and 3.32 in 2015.

Bozek spent two years as an assistant coach at Boston College. She organized game day operations, presented scouting reports, identified areas of development for student-athletes, assisted in goalkeeper training and managed all aspects of video exchange, as well as the team’s social media accounts.

The native of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. played at the highest level of competition as a member of the USA Women’s National Indoor team from 2012-14. She participated in the USA Women’s High Performance program from 2011-14 and attended the Junior National Camp in ’13.

Bozek holds a USA Field Hockey Level II Coaches Certification and has been the head coach at various USA Futures Northeast Region sites since January 2015, coaching the Northeast U19 NFC Team the past three years (2016-present). She has also served as Boston Field Hockey Club Elite coach since April 2017.
