Women’s Cross Country Takes Third at Pre-Conference Meet

Junior Elise Beattie finished 18th at the Pre-Conference meet

DURHAM, N.H. – Freshman Laura Rose Donegan (Melbourne, Australia) placed second overall as the University of New Hampshire women's cross country team finished third at the America East Pre-Conference meet Friday afternoon at the College Woods course.

The Wildcats finished with 75 points to finish behind Vermont (39) and Albany (60) but ahead of Boston University (80) and Maine (98). The meet served as a prelude to next month's conference championships, which will also be held at the College Woods course.

Donegan was impressive in the first collegiate race of her career as she completed the 6-kilometer course in a time of 17:05.95.

Senior Darcy James (Exeter, Mass.) finished 14th in a time of 18:12.27, while junior Elise Beattie (Woodstock, Ill.) took 18th at 18:25.47. Beattie and James are two of the top returners for the Wildcats this season as the duo finished 10th and 11th, respectively, at last year's conference championships.

Senior Erin Phillips (Belmont, N.H.), who posted a top-15 finish for the Wildcats in the season-opener against Providence, claimed 20th at 18:32.18.

Senior Meagan Boucher (Manchester, N.H.) took 22nd in a time of 18:38.08, while freshmen McKenzie Haney (Penacook, N.H.) and Brianna Boden (Keene, N.H.) placed 27th and 32nd, respectively, at 18:47.81 and 18:56.47.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 21 when they visit Maine at 3 p.m.
