The Wildcats honored their seniors before the game

DURHAM, N.H. – Anita Thorvaldsdottir scored the lone goal in the second half for the Bulldogs as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team fell to Yale, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium on Senior Day.

Senior goalkeeper Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) had eight saves in the game, with only one allowed goal.

The Wildcats fall to 3-2-2, while the Bulldogs advance to 3-3-0.

Before the game, seniors Natalie Zibinskas (Kensington, N.H.), Greta Caulton (Amherst, N.H.), Elizabeth Finn (Scituate, Mass.), Summer Haarala (Framingham, Mass.), Jules Vano (Yorktown, N.Y.) and Sonja Zeepvat (Mendham, N.J.) was honored before the game for their hard work and dedication to the program.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the second minute, Wildcat sophomore defender Abby Beasley (Fishers, Ind.) had an apparent goal off a corner kick from sophomore forward Lindsay Lenhard (Spencerport, N.Y.). The goal was overturned following an official review.
In the 35th minute, Zeepvat made an impressive over-the-head save at the right post, turning away a shot from Cindy Yang inside the right side of the box to keep the game scoreless.
Senior midfielder Elizabeth Finn (Scituate, Mass.), took the ball down the left sideline in the 54th minute in attempt to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard, she fired a shot from 20-yards out into the arms of Isabel Willems.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the 69th minute (68:08) when Tana Sands sent a pass down the right side of the field to Thorvaldsdottir. Thorvaldsdottir then placed a shot from the middle of the penalty box into the top-left corner of the net. Karoline Hernes also recorded an assist.
The Wildcats were unable to find the equalizer for the 1-0 final.

Yale held a 15-9 advantage in total shots.
The Bulldogs took nine shots on goal, while the Wildcats had three.
Yale earned six corner kicks, while UNH finished with one.
Zeepvat made eight saves on the day, while Willems tallied three for the Bulldogs.
