The Wildcats fall to 5-1 on the season.

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team fell late to Boston College (5-0, 0-0 ACC) on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5) at the Margot Connell Recreation Center in Chestnut Hill, Mass., dropping a 3-1 decision. The set scores were 18-25, 25-22, 20-25, and 20-25.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1
-The Wildcats and Eagles traded blows to open the match, culminating in an early 13-13 deadlock. In the attack, Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.), Emma Converse (San Antonio, Texas), and Julianne Lee (Renton, Wash.) each landed a pair of kills while Olivia Maulding (Canby, Ore.) landed one kill and a service ace.

-Boston College found separation in the back half of the first set, finishing on a 12-5 run to take the frame 25-18. Four different 'Cats landed kills in the run, including two from Converse.

SET 2
-New Hampshire took a 12-9 set lead to open the second frame, with Converse providing four kills, while Grier contributed a pair and both Lee and Jessica Shattles (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) landed one each.

-The Wildcats and Eagles scored 13 apiece to close the set, culminating in a 25-22 set win for New Hampshire, handing Boston College their first set loss of the year. Emma Converse and Julianne Lee each tallied a pair of kills while Grier landed another.

SET 3
-The Eagles played out to a 14-10 lead to open the third set, with kills from four Wildcats fueling the offense.

-Boston College closed the set with an 11-10 edge to take the third set 25-20. Emma Converse landed a service ace while both Maulding and Evelyn Brenton (Glastonbury, Conn.) earned a block assist and kill each.

SET 4
-BC took an early fourth set lead, jumping out to an 11-5 advantage.

-New Hampshire found some scoring ground through the middle of the frame, with three kills from Dylan Hunt (Pickerington, Ohio) leading the charge to make it an 18-12 contest.

-Despite a late pair of kills and couple of block assists from Hunt, the Wildcats couldn't hang on, losing the set 25-20.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Seven different players earned a kill in the win, paced by a 15-kill outing for Emma Converse, marking her fifth match this season with 10+ kills and third match with 15+ kills.

-Jessica Shattles led the team with 34 assists, her fourth performance this season with 25+ assists and third performance with 30+ assists.

-Three Wildcats turned in a service ace, paced by Olivia Maulding who fired two.

-On defense, 11 players recorded a dig, led by Shattles and Pickard with nine digs each.

-At the net, Rachel Grier finished with one solo block and two block assists while Evelyn Brenton finished with three block assists and Julianne Lee landed one solo block and one block assist.
