The Wildcats start the season 5-0 for the first time since 2007.

DURHAM, N.H. — The University of New Hampshire women's volleyball team took care of business against Stonehill College (2-5, 0-0 NEC) on Friday evening (Sept. 4) at Margot Connell Recreation Center in Chestnut Hill, Mass., winning 3-0 in straight sets. The set scores were 25-15, 25-12, and 25-17.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SET 1
-The Wildcats worked to a quick lead, opening the match with a 10-2 run, powered by a trio of kills from Emma Converse (San Antonio, Texas) and a solo block from Rachel Grier (Dublin, Calif.).

-Stonehill's offense began to find success, but a pair of kills from both Converse and Evelyn Brenton (Glastonbury, Conn.) powered the Wildcats to an 18-7 set advantage.

-Following four-straight service errors between the Skyhawks and Wildcats, New Hampshire closed out the set through a pair of service aces from Cecilia Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis.), taking it 25-15.

SET 2
-New Hampshire and Stonehill traded blows to begin the second set, slugging it out to an early 7-7 deadlock, with two kills from Grier and another from Julianne Lee (Renton, Wash.) pacing the attack.

-The Wildcats found separation, going out on a 14-3 run to take a commanding 21-10 set lead. In the offensive, Converse notched five kills alongside a block assist while Caitlin Leddy (Hinsdale, Ill.) landed a service ace and Avery Albritton (Inverness, Ill.) tallied her first-collegiate kill.

-Kills from Grier, Albritton, and Dylan Hunt (Pickerington, Ohio) closed the frame, giving the Wildcats a 25-12 set win and 2-0 match advantage.

SET 3
-UNH came out fast to open the third set, taking a quick 6-0 lead following a pair of service aces from Hady Pickard (Roswell, Ga.) and two kills from Converse.

-The Wildcats continued to press the attack, holding an 12-10 scoring edge through the middle of the frame, powered by two kills apiece from Converse and Lee and a pair of block assists and a kill each from Albritton and Brenton, to make it a 18-10 contest.

-New Hampshire took the final set 25-17 following kills from Grier, Converse, Hunt, and Albritton.

BY THE NUMBERS
-Eight different Wildcats earned a kill in the win, including four players with 5+ kills. Emma Converse led the team with 15 kills, marking her fourth match with 10+ kills this season.

-Jessica Shattles led the team with 20 assists while Caitlin Leddy and Hady Pickard finished with six apiece.

-Seven different 'Cats tallied a service ace, paced by two-ace outings from Pickard, Dylan Hunt, and Cecilia Anderson.

-On defense, Pickard led the team in digs with 12 while Evelyn Brenton and Avery Albritton each notched two block assists and Rachel Grier landed a solo block and a block assist.

-With the win, the Wildcats start the season 5-0 for the first time since 2007.
