DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team won the athletic department's Life Skills Competition for the second straight year in the 2002-03 academic season, with much of the success attributed to two things - an emphasis on goal setting and strength as a team to focus on achieving an objective.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer program will host its annual Girls' Overnight Camp from July 20-24 on the UNH campus. The cost of the camp is $455 and the fee covers five days of soccer instruction, a camp t-shirt and ball, a full evening program, three mails daily and on-campus lodging in one of the modern UNH dormitories.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team will play host to the University of Rhode Island and University of Vermont in spring ball action on Sunday at Bremner Field located behind the UNH Field House.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team will host a spring tournament Sunday, March 30 at Upper Field, which is located adjacent to Cowell Stadium behind the Field House. UNH will play the Boston Renegades at 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Renegades vs. Providence College at three o'clock. The final game of the day features UNH vs. Providence at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free for all games.




DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team celebrated a highly successful 2002 season at its banquet Feb. 16 and gave special recognition to four student-athletes on the squad.




DURHAM, N.H. - Cyndi Poehner (Greenwich, Conn.) and Debbie Newman (Ashford, Conn.) of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team were recently honored by Soccer Buzz Magazine with a selection to the publication's All-Regional team. Poehner, a senior back, was named to the Northeast Region Third Team and Newman, a freshman midfielder, was voted to the Northeast Region All-Freshman Team.




DURHAM, N.H. - Senior back Cyndi Poehner (Greenwich, Conn.) was named to the NEWISA All-New England First Team and senior goalkeeper Kristen Ouellette (Weatogue, Conn.) was selected to the Second Team.




BOSTON - Cyndi Poehner(Greenwich, Conn.) and Kristen Ouellette(Weatogue, Conn.), seniors on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, were named to the America East All-Championship Team for their outstanding postseason performance, the conference announced at the conclusion of Sunday's league title game.




WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The third-seeded Stony Brook University women's soccer team outscored No. 2 University of New Hampshire 3-0 in overtime penalty kicks to defeat the Wildcats in an America East Championships semifinal matchup at the University of Hartford's Al-Marzook Field.




BOSTON - Michael Jackson, the eighth-year head coach of the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named Coach of the Year and Kristen Ouellette (Weatogue, Conn.) was honored as Goalkeeper of the Year, the America East conference announced Thursday. Five other Wildcats received all-conference honors.




BOSTON - Kelly Stevens (Downingtown, Pa.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named Rookie of the Week by America East on Monday.




DURHAM, N.H. - A goal by Kelly Stevens (Downington, Pa.) with just under 22 minutes to play lifted the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Binghamton Sunday afternoon at Upper Field. The win secured a berth in the America East Women's Soccer Championship for the Wildcats as they improved to 10-6-1 overall and 5-2-1 in America East. The Bearcats end their season at 9-7-2 and 3-4-1 in the league.




ORONO, Maine - Heather Hathorn scored in the 29th minute and it was the only goal of the game as the University of Maine women's soccer team recorded a 1-0 America East victory against the University of New Hampshire at Alumni Field on Thursday.




BOSTON - Kristen Ouellette (Weatogue, Conn.), a senior goalkeeper on the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, was named Player of the Week by America East on Monday. It is the second time this month that the Wildcat captain received the honor; she was also named top player Oct. 7.

It marked the second consecutive week that the honor went to a UNH Wildcat, as Jackie Whishoski (Malden, Mass.) was named the conference's top rookie Sept. 23.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team scored a goal in each half and senior goalkeeper Kristen Ouellette (Weatogue, Conn.) stopped all nine Brown University shots on target as UNH defeated the Bears 2-0 Friday night at Stevenson Field.




BURLINGTON, Vt. - Ana Tobon (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute to propel the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team to Sunday afternoon's 1-0 victory against Temple University in second-day action of the Vermont Soccer Classic.




BURLINGTON, Vt. - Despite dominating play for most of the second half, the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team surrendered a goal in the 86th minute and lost 2-1 to Georgia Southern in Saturday afternoon's opening game of the Vermont Soccer Classic, which is hosted by the University of Vermont. It was the season opener for both teams.




In 2001, the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team returned to the postseason with an appearance in the America East Championships. The 2002 edition of the Wildcats, with a strong nucleus returning in the backfield and goal as well as an improved offense, expects to contend for a conference tournament berth yet again under the direction of eighth-year head coach Michael Jackson.




BOSTON- The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team, which tied for fourth place in the 2001 America East standings, was selected fourth in the America East preseason poll that was released Tuesday.
