Men’s Soccer Announces Signing of Jochum Magnússon

Freshman goalkeeper was a two-year captain for Víkingur Reykjavík
DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's soccer program has announced the signing of freshman goalkeeper Jochum Magnússon (Reykjavík, Iceland).
"Coming to our program from Víkingur Reykjavík in Iceland, Jochum brings maturity, composure and a strong understanding of the game to our goalkeeper group," said head coach Rich Weinrebe. "Comfortable with the ball at his feet and confident in possession, he has the ability to help build play while remaining calm under pressure. His game awareness, professionalism and disciplined approach to development reflect the qualities we value within our program. Goalkeepers are asked to provide leadership and consistency, and Jochum has demonstrated the mentality and maturity needed to continue growing at the collegiate level. Welcome to Durham, Jochum!"
Magnússon was a member of Víkingur Reykjavík first team from 2022-26. He was a two-time team captain in 2023 and 2024, while he was the Team MVP in 2024-25. The team won the U19 Cup Championship in 2023 and the Gothia Cup Championship in 2022.
Magnússon graduated from Verzlunarskóli Íslands High School in 2026.
